Trainings, Workshops, and Professional Learning

In alignment with Henrico CARES, HCPS is offering Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training to the greater HCPS community at no cost to participants. This training equips individuals with the skills to recognize and respond to signs of mental health challenges in young people, fostering a more supportive and informed community.

To make participation as accessible as possible, we will come to you—whether at your school, place of business, community space, or religious organization.

If you’re interested in hosting a training session, please scan the QR code to complete the request form and someone will contact you to coordinate a session that meets your needs.

Together, we can strengthen our collective ability to support the well-being of our students and families, and the greater Henrico Community.

This course will teach you how to apply the MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE):

  • Assess for risk of suicide harm.
  • Listen nonjudgmentally.
  • Give reassurance and information.
  • Encourage appropriate professional help.
  • Encourage self-help and other support strategies.
