Innovation

The HCPS Department of Innovation leads transformative learning across Henrico County Public Schools by advancing bold ideas that make a meaningful impact. Grounded in the Henrico Learner Profile and aligned with HCPS' Journey to 2030 strategic plan, the department helps empower students to grow as learners, leaders and global citizens.

The department focuses on five strategic areas:

• Henrico Learner Profile: Supporting student agency through presentations of learning, student-led conferencing, LifeReady learning exhibitions, learner goal setting and reflection, and student-driven portfolios.
• Digital literacy: Building essential skills for success in a tech-rich world.
• Digital citizenship and data privacy: Promoting safe, ethical and responsible technology use.
• LifeReady learning innovations: Advancing STEM, AI, esports and robotics to connect learning to the future.
• LifeReady learning environments: Designing flexible, inclusive spaces that support innovation and engagement.

The Innovation team includes specialists, innovative learning coaches and librarians. Staff members work with schools to design, implement and scale innovative practices that prepare every student for success in life and learning.
